
Early Years Pupil Premium Policy

The aim of the Early Years Pupil Premium is to close the gap between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers by providing funding to early years providers to help them raise the quality of their provision’ (Department for Education (DfE) Consultation) The Early Years Pupil Premium provides an extra 53 pence per hour on top of the Free Entitlement for three and four year old children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits or who have been in care or adopted from care.

This means an extra £302 a year for each child taking up the full 570 hours funded entitlement to early education.
Eligibility
Children will be eligible to claim Early Years Pupil Premium if they meet at least one of the following criteria (their family receives one of the following):

Income support

Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
-
Income-based Employment and Support Allowance o Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

Child Tax Credit, provide they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
-
Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit or Universal Credit
-
They have been in local authority care for one day or more in England or Wales
-
They have been adopted from care in England or Wales
-
They have left care under a special guardianship order or residence order in England or Wales.
The Donkey Field Pre-School can use the extra funding in any way we see appropriate to improve the quality of the early year’s education that we provide for your child.
This could include for example additional training for our staff on early language, investing in partnership working with our colleagues in the area to further our expertise or supporting out staff in working on specialised areas such as speech and language.
We ask all parents to fill out an additional form to that of the Free Entitlement so that we are able to claim the Early Years Pupil Premium on your behalf if eligible.
